Artist Statement
Trudes has been playing with clay for over twenty years, mainly creating hand-built functional and sculptural vessels. She is guided by the Japanese aesthetic principle of Wabi Sabi, which finds beauty and perfection in the temporal nature of all things — the beautiful art of decay. She heavily textures her pieces, often stretching and pushing the clay body to the point of almost breaking.
Her desire is to have folks engage with her pieces, picking them up, touching, and feeling for the rough places and the smooth places in each vessel. She has had her pieces shown in various exhibits, including the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival (2017 and 2018).
