Artist Statement
I love taking broken pieces of glass and clay and turning them into something beautiful. My subject matter is usually landscapes and animals. I love to bring to light our natural environment, reminding us to take a moment to appreciate its beauty.
A few years ago I started painting marine life, such as octopuses and sea turtles. Through these studies, I decided to create this series. I chose 6 well-known marine animals that I thought would work well together. I wanted each animal to be the main focus so I minimized the background with a narrow profile and I pushed the animals out of their frame.
