Artist Statement
I’ve always loved wood. When I was young, it was because I found it easy to work with. Today I love it for its infinite variability and natural beauty.
I very much enjoy the process of discovery that is involved in working with wood, and more than anything else, I look for ways to showcase the beauty I find in wood. Where possible, I like to use natural edges in my work, and I like working with wood that has obvious natural defects that can be incorporated as design elements in the pieces I produce.
While my preference is to work solely with wood, I sometimes use resin in combination with wood when doing so highlights unique natural elements of the wood I select.
