How do you find your artists?

Most of our artists (except one — but he earns his keep by bringing great food to the potlucks!) live within about 40 minutes of the gallery. Because we’re all about supporting local talent, many of our artists find their way to us through friends, word of mouth, or simply wandering through downtown and falling in love with the space. Others discover us online and decide to join the fun!

Why is it called Rectangle Gallery?

Because it’s not square! (Well, not just that.) The name nods to the shapes that make up art, architecture, and frames — and maybe a little to the corners we don’t cut..

Do you have gift cards?

Absolutely – and they are bright orange like our accent walls! Perfect for birthdays, holidays, and housewarmings or that one friend who’s “impossible to shop for.” Art makes a pretty, unforgettable gift.

Where does the money from sales go?

Straight to the artists who created the work and into keeping the gallery lights on! Supporting local art here really does support local artists, who create locally —and maybe pays for the occasional potluck dessert.

What if I want to join the Gallery as an artist?

Fantastic! We have an open jury call year-round.  Currently our walls are full (you are more than welcome to still apply if you don’t mind the possibility of a waiting list).  However, we are looking for potters, sculptors and other 3D artists.   Check the tab “Call for Artists” here on our website for details on how to apply. We love meeting new creatives (and yes, there’s always room for another medium we haven’t tried yet).

I have kids, is it ok to bring them to the Gallery?

Absolutely! We LOVE having kids at Rectangle Gallery (and kids LOVE the Gallery). Our artists are happy to show them how things are made, answer questions, and make exploring the gallery a fun, colorful experience. Kids can get up close to see the magic of art! It’s a space for curiosity, learning, and plenty of joy.
